Research question 2: What are the strengths of theclient?The VIA-IS was used to indicate what the strengths of the clients are. Thereare two hypotheses formulated. ‘Honesty is in the top 5 strengths of theclient’ and ‘Kindness is in the top 5 strengths of the client’. According tothe VIA-IS, the top five strengths of the clients are: 1.
Capacityto love and be loved, belonging to the strength of humanity. This means thatthe client appreciate close relations with others, in particular in those whichshe is sharing and taking care of. The people whom are close to her are thesame people who feel the most close to the client.
2. Kindness,belonging to the strength of humanity. This means that the client is doingfavors and good deeds for others. The client enjoys doing good deeds forothers, even if she does not know them well.3. Honesty(authenticity, integrity), belonging to the strength of courage. This means thatthe client is honest, not only by speaking the truth but by living her life ina genuine and authentic way.
She is a ‘real’ person and down to earth, withoutpretense.4. Teamwork(citizenship, social responsibility, loyalty), belonging to the strength ofjustice. According to the client, she is loyal to a group and a dedicatedteammate. She works hard for the success of the group and always does hershare.5. SocialIntelligence (emotional intelligence, personal intelligence) belonging to the strengthof humanity. The client is aware ofmotives and feelings of others.
She knows how to handle different socialsituations and she feels comfortable in these situations. Furthermore, sheknows how to put others at ease. The strengths ‘Honesty’ and ‘Kindness’ are both inthe top five strengths of the client. Both hypotheses are accepted. PersonalityResearchquestion 3: What are the personal characteristics of the client?To investigate what the personal characteristics of the client are, the HEXACOPersonality Inventory was used. The hypothesis is that ‘Conscientiousness’ isone of the personality traits of the client.
This means that it has to be aboveaverage. All the data of the HEXACO Personality Inventory are displayed in theappendix, table 3. Honesty-Humility (above average).The client scored above average on scale ‘Honesty-Humility’ and also aboveaverage on the subscale ‘Fairness’ and ‘Greed-Avoidance’ (see table 3 inappendix). This means according to the client that she is not inclined tomanipulate others for personal gain, unwilling to take advantages of otherindividuals, avoiding fraud and corruption. Furthermore she is relativelyuninterested in wealth, luxury, social status and privileges.Emotionality (below average).
The client scored below average on scale ’emotionality’ and below average onthe subscales ‘Sentimentality’ and ‘Anxiety’ (see table 3 in appendix). Thisindicates that the client feels less emotional and feels little worried even instressful situations. In personal relationships she can be independent andemotionally detached. Agreeableness (Above average) The results of the HEXACO Personality Inventory shows that the client scoresabove average on the scale ‘Agreeableness’ and also above average on thesubscales ‘Forgiveness’ and ‘Patience’ (see table 3 in appendix). Thisindicates that the client has the tendency to compromise and cooperate withothers. She does not lose her temper easily and remains quiet. Furthermore, she forgives easily the personswho did something wrong.
Conscientiousness (Above average)The client scored above average on the scale ‘Conscientiousness’ and aboveaverage on the subscales ‘Organization’ and ‘Prudence’ (see table 3 inappendix). This indicates that the client is more likely to organize (both timeand physical environment) and strives for perfection and accuracy towards hergoals. According to the client she can work organized, disciplined andstructured. When she has to make a decision the client considers all theoptions thoroughly.
Conscientiousness is one of the personality traitsof the client. So the hypothesis that the client is conscientiousness isaccepted.
