Information and communication technology has an influence on the quality of teaching, learning, and research in the higher institution, n3, ICT is one of the platforms that allow the student to learn from the expert and connecting with their peers in the global community. With the evolution of ICT solution, organization, and the higher institution has changed the way they deal with IT infrastructure n9. Cloud computing has introduced a new approach to dealing with software and hardware infrastructure n9.
Cloud computing is a computing model which allows the administration of hardware, software (an application) and data storage be managed through the internet. It is managed on the remote servers instead of an in-house device or personal device, cloud computing has reduced the investment of institutions on ICT infrastructure and their operational cost on the equipment n1. Adoption of Cloud computing allows the integration of software, hardware, storage, applications, networks, and ICT solution to be shared over the internet n10
The advantages of cloud computing are high-speed processing, larger storage capability and grid computing availabilityn10.
Deployment models of cloud computing are:
1)Private Cloud: the cloud infrastructure is deployed exclusively for one organization ‘s It is internally used and which is either deployed locally or has confined access to just a user in the organization.n4
2)Public Cloud: the infrastructure is accessible to the public and every user an organization, It is typically deployed by cloud service providers (CSP), offering cloud administrations. It is hosted, operated, and managed by the cloud service provider. Common CSP are Amazon EC2, Google AppEngine and S3 (Simple Storage Service) n4
3)Community Cloud: This kind of cloud infrastructure is most commonly used by the organizations because the different organization with the same vision, same security setting, and same requirement compliance can be managed by the same cloud service provider.n4
4) Hybrid Cloud: it comprises of two or more cloud infrastructure (private public and community) n4
Service model in cloud computing
1) Software as a service (saas): SaaS applications are installed on remote server and are available through the web page for users, this service provided by cloud service provider and the service is provided base on the worker need
2) Platform as a service (paas): this platform provided service for the developer to developing and deploying an application over the internet
3) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). IaaS it allows user to utilize servers, operating system, storage, and network device, which dwells on the remote server (cloud)
these are 3 service delivery of cloud computing to the end user.
