Being queen is more important to her then anything, she can do anything you can dream of to get this title. You guessed it right, Lady Macbeth, from the shakespearean tragedy Macbeth. She looks so delegate and innocent from the outside, like fragile glass. But, behind closed doors she takes off her fake mask. She is this manipulative, strong women who wants the same abilities as a man. In the opening scene, she asks the spirits to take away her feminine instinct to care. She wants power, as women back then lacked to hold power.
She wants it now, because the three witch told Macbeth, her husband, that he will be king one day. She persuades her husband to kill Duncan. Macbeth at first didn’t agree upon this crime. However, Lady Macbeth knew the key to make him do whatever she wants, to question his masculinity. “When you durst do it, then you were a man:” (Act 1 Scene 7 Line 49).
To reassure Macbeth, Lady Macbeth creates a strategic plan to kill Duncan. She plans on getting the guards dunk and then Macbeth to kill Duncan and by the time the guards wake up the crime would be committed and can be blamed upon the guards (Act 1 Scene 7 Lines 61-73). Lady Macbeth is also very intelligent as she can cover up for herself and Macbeth. When Macbeth starts acting up because he couldn’t sleep due to him killing people and seeing ghosts. Lady Macbeth would cover up for him(Act 3). Once Macbeth kills the Macduffs’ she starts feeling guilty as she created this monster who won’t stop.
She starts to blame herself and we get to see other side of her which we weren’t aware of. She starts acting like an insane person, as she starts washing and rubbing her hands like there is actual blood on her hands, when there isn’t any. We learn in the book that Lady Macbeth kills herself due to this insanity. However, her character remains with us forever.
Shakespeare created such a strong, independent and a great decision-making individual character who we can relate to in this modern era.
